  • Learn the challenges of partnerships

Importance of Cultivating Partnerships

Partnerships are an important component of community advocacy efforts. Partners can enhance community engagement in projects, increase community awareness of the issues being addressed, and establish a framework for the continued support of services that support the well-being of youth in a community. - American Academy of Pediatrics

Partnerships will help:

  • Multiply the power of advocacy efforts and build strength in numbers.

  • Create alliances and coalitions involved to accomplish your advocacy goal.

  • Increase the number of people and groups working to improve children’s well-being.

  • Provide new funding or supplement existing funding.

Challenges with Partnerships

  • Time invested in creating and maintaining the partnership is not equal to the benefit to the youth or to the program.

  • Resources allocated (i.e. funding) to the partnership does not produce results.

  • Misalignment of desired outcomes.

  • Disengagement from the project/initiative.

  • Change in leadership.
