SDC Cares
Rooted in Service. Powered by Purpose.
At SDC Cares, we believe that meaningful change begins with bold investment in people and possibilities. As the philanthropic arm of SDC, our mission is to uplift and empower communities by addressing the systemic challenges that stand in the way of generational progress.
We focus our impact in three key areas where we know transformation begins:
Literacy
We champion literacy as the foundation of liberation. Through our membership in the Rotary Club of Baton Rouge, we prioritize reading to youth at Glen Oaks Park Elementary school in North Baton Rouge. This investment sparks imagination, improve educational outcomes, and build lifelong learning habits for youth and adults alike.
Youth Well-Being
Through our board leadership with Blossom, SDC Cares supports equitable access to essential resources for children and teens facing crisis or financial hardship. We’re proud to champion initiatives that provide clothing, hygiene products, and life skills development to help young people not just survive, but blossom. From basic needs to financial literacy, our commitment is to restore dignity, foster resilience, and help every child reach their fullest potential—no matter their circumstances.
Disability Advocacy
Equity must include everyone. Through our work with the Charcot-Marie-Tooth Association (CMTA), we proudly support disability advocacy and awareness, ensuring that the voices and needs of those with disabilities are included in economic, educational, and leadership opportunities. Our advocacy pushes for inclusive practices that respect dignity, visibility, and full participation.
