Guiding Emerging Leaders to Find Their Place in a New City
Date
Fall 2023
Client:
Forum 225 – Barton Leadership Program
Challenge:
Young leaders entering Baton Rouge — especially those new to the city — often struggle to build community, establish credibility, and find their footing as emerging leaders. Forum 225 sought to prepare these leaders with strategies for authentic integration and long-term impact.
Approach:
-Led an engaging workshop focused on navigating leadership as a transplant, building social capital, and finding personal and professional belonging in a new environment.
-Shared personal experiences and practical frameworks for building influence, fostering genuine relationships, and identifying leadership opportunities.
-Provided participants with action steps for creating visibility, building trust, and leading with authenticity within unfamiliar settings.
Transformation:
-Helped participants reframe the challenge of being "new" into an advantage for fresh leadership perspectives.
-Increased confidence among young leaders in building networks, seeking mentorship, and contributing meaningfully to their new community.
-Equipped participants with a toolkit to accelerate their leadership journey in Baton Rouge and beyond.
Key Outcome:
Emerging leaders left the workshop feeling empowered to lead with authenticity, build meaningful connections, and thrive as changemakers in their new city.
